Definition of a customer per Merriam Dictionary: Customer: “Someone who buys goods or services from a business.”
I know amusements parks and hotels will say guest, but we are all customers, we are paying for services and buying. Though these kind of places per Merriam dictionary have the right to define people as their guest. Guest: c: “a person who pays for the services of an establishment (as a hotel or restaurant)”
Along with being J.A.C (Just a customer) should come along with the term customer service. For some reason I think many have long have forgotten about this term.
I will quote Wikipedia: “Customer service is the provision of service to customers before, during and after a purchase. According to Turban et al. (2002), “Customer service is a series of activities designed to enhance the level of customer satisfaction – that is, the feeling that a product or service has met the customer expectation.”
It seems like every day I will go out or buy something online and I’m a “customer” or “guest.” Even if it’s just down the street to the Starbucks or grocery store. My personal thoughts are if I am going to a business and patronizing (frequent a store, theater, restaurant, or other establishment) as a customer then I should have a good experience all around, from customer service, the product that was purchased and the atmosphere.
I am paying for the goods or service so why shouldn’t the company at least be kind to their customer/guest verbally or online with quality products, or am asking way to much these days?
Here’s to the good, bad, happy, sad, frustration moments I encountered by visiting a place or buying product online. Note: If you think for a moment I have never worked in the world of customer service, or product/restaurant review, please refrain that thought. I’ve had many years of experience in this field.
